Screensaver not working properly?
Hello Boys and Girls,
Okay, I have finally got around to saying Hello to you all. After having spent 25 years as software developer for windows, I have now retired and am playing around. Again! Despite only having finally set up my membership with LinuxQuestions today, I have been playing around with linux for a couple of years. I used to work with a guy called Bernie R. who was always going on about Linux being better! But having no need for it I didn't bother checking it out. How wrong I was! I know have much more time to play around an what a revelation it has become. Having had a heart attack and a stroke with no pension funds were not as forthcoming as I would have liked. My 7 year old pc was suffering from Windows Vista bloat ware. Now, that I am playing around with Linux it is so much quicker that I don't need an upgrade. That said... Santa has told me that I'm getting a new one for Christmas. Thank go God, or Lesley (my wife)! There will be many more posts to come, but for other Newbies having a stab at linux here are some of my favourites: Puppy (great for newbies - it's got nearly everything you need and is quick to load). It's a pitty Barry is doing something else! Fedora (great software but a little slower). Linux Lite (this is my favourite at the moment). Linux Mint and all the others I cannot get to work on my pc. I will write more after Christmas. Happy Christmas and a happy New Year to you all. Mike Kinder |

Welcome to LQ.
When you get a chance, post your computer specs. That might give us an idea as to why Mint and some others don't like it. |
