Screen Stops At Power Down

I just loaded Redhat 9.0 and it looks !! GREAT !! When I power off my computer stops at power down screen. My system is APM not ACPI. Can I configure to power down through the operating system? What are the steps?

You may well need to recompile your kernel. You will need to enable APM, and disable SMP, which unless you have a multi-processor machine shouldn't be a problem.
