Hello,

I am running Ubuntu, and I have a 1600x1200 monitor. When I install Ubuntu, the screen worked fine in 1600x1200 mode, but when I installed the nVidia drivers, the 1600x1200 option disappeared from the GNOME "Screen Resolution" menu.

I installed the drivers like this:

apt-get install nvidia-glx
nvidia-glx-config enable

My XF86Config-4 is below. How can I get the 1600x1200 back???

The bold indicates the default setup for your monitor, and all resolutions are in there, so this is quite boggling. There must be a command that can let you change the resolution (there has to be - linux doesn't use anything but commands). I'd try googling for such a command, or howto on changing the resolution via a console... unless all you want is for the options to be displayed in the GUI then i don't know how to answer that.

Hmmm... I changed DefaultDepth to 16, and I got the choice back. I guess my graphics processor only likes to do 1600x1200 in 16 bit. It's weird that it worked with the nv driver though.

Eh, I guess I can live with 16 bit.
