screen freeze.

when i try to use record my desktop it just freezes my computer untill i turn it off or when watch movies in the full screen it just freezes , i was just wondering if i was missing something or do i have to download another codac? or is it becouse i have the compiz running and it just cant handle it.or am i just unlucky that its not compatable?

im using ubuntu ue 2.2
sony vaio laptop. system information in screen shot.

Have you tried disabling compiz to see if that is the issue?

how do i disable compiz? do i have to go through every individual thing ive got enabled or can i just press 1 button to shut it down then start it back up when ive finished with out messing my settings up?

You can disable the effects from the Preferences--> Appearance section.
