Unhappy Screen Display broken up loading Ubantu 10.04

I have tried to boot Ubantu 10.04 several times and every time the screen is unreadable, the desktop is broken up into about 5 vertical sections and that's as far as I can get. Help. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. other versions of Ubantu work okay.

You'll need to look at the look files to see what the problem is. I have a look at the log in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Based on your descriptions it sounds like your video card has not been installed correctly but the log may give you better info. Try to find out what video card you're using and if you have the correct driver installed for that card.
