If you do a complete re-install I'd suggest you take the time and carefully plan the layout of your hard disk(s). Not only the partitions but also the file system(s | mix) (ext4 / btrfs / xfs). Do you plan to encrypt anything? Even root? If so you need a small unencrypted /boot partition or additions to GRUB. And so forth...
