SBC Yahoo Dial

Yeah, so I'm a complete newbie.

I can't get ppp to cooperate with my SBC Yahoo Dial account. I tried all of the pap/chap/ms-chap selections and it dialed up and then spat on me with each of them. Suggestions would be most appreciated.

Use minicomm to dial in to your isp manually, and see what comes up. You can try to make a chat script afterwards to dial in after you know what's going on. You also need the ip of their dns server, ask them for it or search for it.

try using kppp - it is very easy to use and is stable. I have used it before for an sbc dialup acct. it is part of KDE so you may have it already [type kppp in a terminal to see].

[all found on sbc.yahoo.com - click on "help" top right]
Access numbers for VA: http://sbcyahoo.prodigy.net/cgi-bin/.../openphone.cgi

DNS [take your pick any should work or call thm to get the ones nearest you:
Little Rock - AR 151.164.64.201 151.164.1.8
Oklahoma City - OK 151.164.23.201 151.164.1.8
St. Louis - MO 151.164.14.201 151.164.1.8

I was able to use kppp, wvdial, and Slack netconfig to establish a connection.
You sometimes need to add the DNS servers manually to get a connection to work.
Are you really using Zipslack?
I had to change the default modem string in Slackware before I could make a connection.
The SBC dial connection with Linux should be similar to making a manual Windows DUN connection.
