Have you tried running 'gdm'? Gnome Desktop Manager and then try running things from there. If so and it still doesn't work, depending on how you're running it, look at your xinitrc file and see if it's in there and properly? I believe it's in /usr/X11...That's all I can think of at the moment myself...

This maybe isn't a very helpful response, but I have had nothing but trouble with the Sawfish/Gnome combo in RedHat (7.1). I switched to Enlightenment and haven't had a lick of trouble since....

Honestly, i'd have to agree on that remark. KDE seems to be my most stable gui, everything just crashes in GNOME. lol It'd be a nice regular if IT could stay regular! Any digital laxatives available?

yeah but I guess he means he now uses enlight/gnome no?

i don't think sawfish is MEANT to do anything without gnome, i use the two together perfectly.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing. I've always been able to load enlightenment standalone without running gnome first. I just went from mandrake to red hat, and i noticed that Gnome starts with sawfish on default. No way can i start it without frunning gnome first. So now i have come to the conclusion that enlightenment rokz, sawfish sucks ballz. However, now with Red Hat 7.2, i cant seem to start up enlightenment standalone. When i log in i only get options to start KDE, WindowMaker, and Gnome. Any body know how i can start enlightenment when i login?
