Saving KDE settings for root

I'm running SUSE 8 Beta with KDE 3 beta.
No matter what changes I do to my (root) desktop, the are forgotten the next time I log on. Changes like background picture, look'n'feel stuff, fonts...
All other accounts works fine.
I don't recive any error messages. Everything else seems to work just fine.
Made a Google search and search this forum as well, didn't find any answers.

This might be because your using a beta GUI on a beta distro. Have you searched the SuSE web site?

...I suppose it might!
Didn't find anything on the Suse page.
Find it very strange that it is changes the root account that can't be saved...
Obviusly not a matter of permissions!?
