Saving images to hard drive

I downloaded my images to a USB flash drive which plugs directly into the computer.I import the images via the image editor in Ubuntu 7.04. However I can see no way of saving the images to the hard drive. I can see no save facility. When I take out the flash drive my images are gone. Any help will be appreciated.

Normally, a flash drive installs itself just like a spinning-media drive. You can simply copy the files to wherever you want.
