saving file to floppy in suse

im using suse and am writing a book. i need to save each chapter to floppy for college but everytime i try it either says access denied or the floppy remains blank?????????????? please help ive 7 chapters to save for tommorrow

Ok, first of all, delete the icon that is created for you by the installation for that floppy and create another. Then create a new one on the desktop. Make sure that permissions are set to enable writes, when selecting the device, use the choice for /media/floppy (/dev/fd0).

See if that works...

Have you tried mounting the floppy?
mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
Can you write to it as root? If so, make sure you're in the floppy group
cat /etc/groups | grep floppy
