Saved files on floppy aren't read in Windows

I'm running Slackware 9.0.
Here is what i did:

mount /mnt/floppy
cp file /mnt/floppy/file

That is it. I've done it in different formats, including .txt and .doc because i know Windows software can work with these formats. But it just doesn't read these files from the floppy. It reads some old files on the floppy that i did save from Windows though.

Thanks,
Lance

Are you sure you mounted it properly? Here are 3 suggestions for you.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Try the command mount to show all mounted devices after you mounted your floppy.

$ mount

Is the floppy drive on the list?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or you may try to mount it "manually" like this:

$ mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

replace "fd0" with your floppy device.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes you need to unmount the floppy first before you take it out. Do it like this:

$ umount /mnt/floppy
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope this help.

Rather than picking up a 3-year old thread, I would recommend starting a new one (after searching, of course.....---plus, maybe include a bit more detail.....

The floppy would have to be formatted with FAT something (eg FAT 32) for Windows to read it

I'm still also banking on the idea that they didn't 'umount' the floppy.

My $0.02

I dont think so....once the Linux OS is shut down, then the flopy is automatically unmounted (I'm assuming dual boot) Same answer if you physically remove the disk and stick it in a Windows box.
