linux wont install,no devices found


Every distro ive tried says no devices found to install linux on.Ive tried about 15 distros with no luck,tried differnt jumpers and bios settings with no luck,have xp pro installed fine and can boot just fine into any distro just cant install them cause none can find my harddrive,i also have the sill3112a onboard controller chip onboard and think that might be my problem?

Gigabyte ga-8trs350mt motherboard
80 gig hitachi sata
512 mg ram
toshiba cd\dvd burner on ide
