SATA cdrom not recognized
When I installed, I plugged in an IDE cdrom, because the linux cd would boot w/ the SATA dvd-rw, but it wouldn't recognize it in setup.
So now I want to use my cdrom drive, and mounting /dev/sd* and /dev/sbpcd* and /dev/scd* don't seem to work. I've tried a-f and 1-4 on each of them. I believe the burner is on the second bus, only drive on it (first bus is my sata HD). |
Been a while since I had issues like this. First most of my experience is with scsi and since most sata devices use the scsi kernel interface to communicate thats where I will start from.
What output do you get from the command ' cat /proc/scsi/scsi '? Is there any /dev/scd*? This would be the logical block scheme to me. Did see some search links from http://www.google.com/linux that mention sata cd-dvd not well supported yet. You google around there and see what pops up. Lets start there for now. Brian |
heheh, no such option under /proc... no /proc/scsi, ergo no /proc/scsi/scsi.
But it reads my sata HD (which has linux booted on it!). |
