sansa mp3 player sync.

Having recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 I was dismayed to find that Rhythm box or for that matter other music players was unable to synchronize my mp3 player (Sansa e250). Before I go any further let me be clear, I moved to Linux out of frustration with Windows,Linux has been a great operating system and the antithesis of Windows. I am looking for a clear and clean way to solve my mp3 problem. Also, I am a user only,I'm not versed in how Linux works. I am further suprised that this issue has not been incorporated in periodic downloads that occur much of the time.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.
Does rhythmbox recognize your MP3 player?
Did you enable the MTP Device Support plugin?
Is your player configured as an MTP or MSC device? MSC mode configures the player to look like a regular flash drive.

There could be a libmtp bug problem but not sure. libmtp is the software library that applications like rhythmbox use to talk to players that use Microsoft's Media Transport Protocol.

I would suggest setting the player to MSC mode and making sure MTP plugin is not selected.

Hello millardpw
seems like this is a problem for a few users of @ ubuntuforums as well http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ght=sansa+e250 the fix they have listed in thread is not as you would say "clean". I have a Sansa a fuze and I use it in msc mode(as michaelk suggested) and I prefer to drag and drop files to the player, initially getting my fuze to work in 8.04 was not clean, I had to wait until 8.10 for that. I would watch the above thread @ the ubuntuforums someone may come up with a clean fix and way to sync. good luck
