Sans font

Perhaps this sounds stupid, but I need to locate the Sans font that Konqueror uses so that I can copy it to /home/andy/.fonts and have it available for selection in Opera. At the moment, the fonts in Opera are all over the place - on some sites, the text is too small, and on others the opposite is true. Please help me! I use Mandrake 10.1.

Look into Settings->Configure Konqueror->Look (translations back to English, search options with similar meaning). Then you have a box with the font name.

I need the directory of the Sans font file, wherever it may be. Konqueror, at present, displays pages better than Opera because it uses the Sans font, whereas I cannot use Sans in Opera as it does not list the font.

it's not going to do any good to find the font file i don't think
it's x that displays the fonts combined with the underlying tool kit
opera for me shows available the same set of fonts as xfontsel for toolbar and stuff
a different set (more) for web pages but still not sans
but like you konqueror shows available yet another set including sans
it's bizzare
i'm sure opera would work better if we could compile it ourselves because it uses the same toolkit as konqueror but we can't.. so i guess we are kind of stuck with what it does
i think mine was the static one - perhaps one of the dynamically linked ones works different

fonts are the biggest Linux mystery of all but it's alot better than it used to be !

please someone come along and point out how i'm all wrong with this and we just have some settings wrong.

Opera under Linux is, well, strange! Everything is wrong compared to how it appears under a Windows environment. I wish I could just have the Sans font for everything, because at the moment a lot of text is too small, and yet on some pages the text is huge. It's really getting on my nerves! I downloaded Firefox just to see how that displayed, and that was fine, too. It seems to be a problem confined only to Opera.
There's nothing in /opt/ Thanks for the suggestions thus far.
