SAN drives don't start update applying kernel update
Some Background:
- RedHat Enterprise Linux server release 5.8 - Dell PowerEdge 2950 server - using Dell/EMC PowerPath software to attach to Dell/EMC SAN - Test environment server I applied latest security patches last weekend using yum update command. I had to reboot afterwards since the kernel was updated with one of the patches. After the reboot, none of my SAN drives appeared and I found out that the PowerPath service was not started. I started the PowerPath service and now all of my SAN drives appear. I found some documentation that said I should have _netdev in the /etc/fstab to get around this problem, but it's already there. I'm fearful when I go to apply the updates to my production servers that I'll have the same problem. Any ideas on how I won't need to manually start the PowerPath service each time I reboot the server? Thanks! |
Where in the startup process does the PowerPath service get started?
