Samba Share to Ubuntu 9

I am running Slackware server using Samaba to share out files. I have turned off the password line however the Ubuntu box will not recognise the network and if it does manage to jump on it only stays for a short time before it falls off and then cannot be reconnected. Are there specific properties that I have to change in order to log onto the slackware server box?

There is no real need for samba if you want to share files between Linux boxes. That can be done with more ease using NFS.

Thanks

Hi Thanks for the help but can you tell me if this interupts with the operation of samba on the slackware server as I also have a couple of XP boxes that use this network as well. The Ubuntu box is used for running the avi files on to the plasma tv.

Thanks

No samba should keep its own operation.
