Exclamation Samba share from ubuntu 14.04 to a iMac, doesn't connect correctly

Hello all,

im a real noob when it comes to computers, i have an old pc, which i have installed ubuntu 14.04 and works fine, much better than xp anyway,
i setup samba on it so i can share music and movies around the house, problem is, i can see the share, but can paste anything into it, keep getting the same message from my imac

"The operation canít be completed because you donít have the necessary permission. "

But if i use virtualbox and install linux mint on the imac, i can see the share and paste files into it

What am i not doing right ?

Thank you for your time

You have Ubuntu on the PC and you have your imac, two separate computers. Very different than having Linux Mint installed in VirtualBox on the same computer. With Linux systems, you would need to give your user or group permissions to access the Linux Ubuntu from the imac. Generally, you would be able to see (read) directories/files but not write to them. What filesystem type is the 'share' on the PC with Ubuntu? What permissions do you have set?
