Samba server not browseable on network
I can get to the Samba server by \\IP Address, but I can't get to it by \\SERVER NAME. I am not running a firewall and am using dnsmasq for a DNS forward caching. Everything works fine except that I cannot connect by the server name without adding it the the hosts file on the client pc. I don't know what I am missing, but I'm sure it easy. Thanks in advance.

What is the output of "nslookup servername" on a client w/o the entry in the hosts file? I'm guessing that your caching name server isn't serving up the extra name.
Let us know

Here is what I get with nslookup on client. I do not have the lookup in the hosts file either.
> server
Server: Server
Address: 192.168.1.100
*** Server can't find server: Non-existent domain
That is the right address of the server. Thanks.
