Samba Server Directory and printer is not accessible


Deal all,

i was configure samba server, in rhel5 server, and creat a share directory with full permission.
configure samba smb.conf file i.e
[sahre dir of samba]
comment = samba dir
path = /smbt (dir name which is create with full permission.
public = yes
writable = yes
printable = no
valid user = jitenderana (samba user name which is creat with smbpasswd command)
createmask = 0777
directory mask = 0777
save and exit the file

In client side
window machine find the linux computer with the help of ip, enter user name and passwd.
server is open and display shared directory.
i opne the sahre smb dir, its open but when i create a new directory on it its give access is dieny error message.

i am not use the samba service....... plz help me what the mistaik i was doing.....

Have a look at the permissions and ownership of the directory /smbt. If you want anyone to have write access, you need the correct owenrship and permissons on that directory.

My guess is it is owned by root. If it is, you can not override that with samba configuration.

Thank you for your commenting, sir yes this directory is create by root user, but i have give the full permission to this dirtetory, and i am also create a directory by samba user and give the full permission but the problem is same that why????? i am say the directory of root user.

Please guide me what to do now............

What user did you connect to this directory with? Was it the same user? If you want a public share, google for it, you need to map users in your smb.conf file so they belong to the samba user or group. This is my understanding any way.
