Question Samba Server Configuration issue

Hello,

I'm configuring Samba server on a Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server with Webmin 1.340. I was able to set up shares however when I check the Samba User List I see only 5 users and I'm missing 5 more. Can you guys help me? I tried adding SAMBA users but I don't see the option in webmin to do so.
The way I have it set up is I created Linux users 1-10 then I created SAMBA shares for each one of them but only the users showing under SAMBA users have access to the share resources.
Hopefully i was clear enough if not please let me know!
Thanks!

Hi ceantuco,

I don't have much idea with Ubuntu, but I tried Samba over Linux and it worked fine for me. I am briefing the steps what I tried here :
a) use command ; system-config-samba
b) click "Add Share" option
c) browse directory, that u want to share
d) select users to share the directory with
e) restart samba service ( very important)
f) issue "testpram" command to refresh the configuration

Also, in your case, this might be the case that u might have select only few users in /etc/samba/samba.conf file. You can try selecting "ALL" for ValidUsers in this file.

Or, you can add the other five users to Samba users and after that try to access shared directory through them.

Hope this gives you some clue.

Cheers,
Kapil.

Kapil, thank you so much, I was able to figure it out. I went to Convert Unix users to Samba users under Samba Windows file sharing and that did the trick.
thanks for your help!
