Samba Problem

I´ve recently install samba in a RedHat 6.1. I can see the windows shares in the net but that machines can´t access the linux shares. What´s going on? I supuse to make a user to access that folder but there´s not even a request for user/pass pair.

Thanks in advance,

Gabriel.

There is a few things you need to do to make samba work with windows:

* make sure samba uses encrypted passwords. This is done in smb.conf. man smb.conf for help.

* you'll also need a smbpasswd file. You'll probably find a script ( mksmbpasswd.sh or something ) in your samba dir that copy your passwd file to smbpasswd. Then to change smbpasswd you can write: smbpasswd <user>.
The username must of course be the same on the windows machine...

This should do it... i think...
