Samba on 14.04 - no errors, but shares can't be seen and accessed

I'm a few days after installing 14.04 Server, and my samba went mysteriously down. Everything seems to be alright: smbd/nmbd is running without errors, testparm/smbstatus shows nothing. Yet my shares can't be seen from remote machines (aside from network shares, the machine responds fine). smbtree just lists remote shares. I was trying to set "interfaces" to the outer ip, or the internal 127. ip, but the result is the same.

Aside from pure-ftpd and gui nuances, this is a vanilla installation. I'll attach diagnostics... could someone please give some leads what I could follow?

The text in the screenshot you posted is not readable. Could you please post all of the contents of your /etc/samba/smb.conf file in text form (not as screenshot).

One guess, have you checked your firewall on the samba server to make sure SMB ports are not accidentally blocked?

In addition,

Did you install any software or made any other configuration changes since you last verified samba was working?

Have you checked the smbd and nmbd log files for errors?

Does the output of the following command show the shares?
smbclient -L localhost (just press enter when prompted for a password)

Your problem could be that your samba shares (i.e. [Media] and [Work]) are missing the following line:

Code:
valid users = SambaUser1 SambaUser2 etc.
... where SambaUser1 SambaUser2 etc. are the samba users you set up in /etc/samba/smbusers

You might also want to look at the section 'username map' in the manual page of smb.conf
