Samba - master browser not found

When I run xfsamba, I get the message "master browser not found". How do I correct this?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Samba is telling you that when it requested acknowledgment from the master browser it got no reply. The master browser is a pc on the network that keeps the "current" list of all pc's on the network. This is what you see when you go to network neighborhood and click. That list that populates your screen typically comes from the master browser. You smb.config file has the option to make samba the master browser with the simple line "master browser = yes". I believe that is all you have to do. On most systems it is a non-issue who the master browser is, it just works better if there is one. I have a small network with about 10 pc's and my box is typically the master browser. It gets chosen in the windoze world by which pc is turned on and network accessible the longest. It will usually declare itself the master browser and announce this to all other pc's on the network. I hope that clears that up some. If not repost and we'll try to help.
