Samba, Grub, and other Linux madness

I installed Suse on my office machine to give the OS a try and really liked it for the most part minus a few hangups. The system is a dual boot(windows 2000 pro and Suse 8.2), after install I get a "GRUB read error" when booting so the only way into linux was to put in the boot CD and then boot the installed system. I let the Suse installer handling setting up the boot loader at first, but then tried to change to LILO then back to GRUB changing the settings around but no luck getting it to boot. My next problem involves Samba. I need the machine to be able to login into and have access to all the server resources. The server is running windows server 2002. I have no idea how to setup this up. I tried to install some of the GUI samba clients, but couldn't get either Komba2 or smbwww to work. Please help this complete linux noob who really wants to get away from microsoft products.

Hi,

I suggest using lilo as bootloader because it is so easy to configure. Pleas read this doc on how t oset it up:

http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/workshops/li...tall/lilo.html

For info on samba you will probably find answers to all your questions at http://ftp.easynet.be/samba/docs/using_samba/toc.html wich is a complete book on the subject.

Hope this helps.
