Samba - Files being deleted
I have a samba share set up for windows users within our network.
I have allocated access to the share based on user names. I have allocated username mapping to a single unix user (NOT ROOT) this user has no login priviledges. Hosts to allow is only our LAN machines, with share level security I'm running RH7.3. The box is acting as gateway, DHCP server, NFS exports & file server. All users run a program which resides on the share. I made nobody the owner and allow only owner to delete files. People can browse but are unable to delete files directly via windows explorer & such, which is what I want. On occassion, files in large quantities are being deleted from the share. I can find no entries in the samba logs of concern. I keep rebuilding the share and someone, somehow is deleting many files at random. I'm at a loss to understand what going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BEST REGARDS Ori |
I'd check the log files and see what's going on. Is it possible someone's cracked into your system? Just a stab in the dark kind of answer I know, but the log files should help give you an idea of what's going on.
