Samba file srvr as AD domain member

I have a Samba 3 file server setup with 2 shared folders and I want it to authenticate users to our AD (2003). I have followed the instructions from "The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide."

The setup seems simple: create the folders, set the perms, edit smb.conf, run net rpc join, edit nsswitch.conf.

When I attempt to access the server in Network Places I get the error: "Fileserver is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this nework resource. Contact the administrator... The network path was not found."

wbinfo -u does return a list of the AD but without DOMAIN+ in front of the username.
getent passwd user returns

What else do I need to check or test?
