samba can't write

after reading a lot of post i still run into a problem

i can see my shares i can read them but i can't WRITE to them ?

how come


workgroup = Lexiun
writable = yes
guest ok = yes
hosts allow =

comment = Home Directories
comment = testje
path = /test
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes
public = yes

what am i doing wrong? cause if i put security = user i'll have to give a password

Does everybody have write access to the directory /test ? Samba can restrict permissions further than they are, but it can't grant permission a user wouldn't normally have.

jup the whole directory is chmod 777 :s can't figure it out

Just solved this problem myself but not sure if it'll be the same problem you had.

My problem was that I hadn't added the proper users and was using the share security level. I never got it working using share security level. Once I added the proper users to BOTH the system and samba and set the passwords for them using smbpasswd and set the security level to user I was prompted for a login and once I logged in I was able to write to the share.
