Samba: automatically create a domain user's home directory

Hi All,

I have configure the winbind to work.

wbinfo -u, -g, -a is all working fine
i am able to login using domain+userid

however, when i tried the solution from redhat to automatically create a domain user's home directory and restart the winbind service I couldn't logi from my putty (ssh client).

I added the following into system-auth
session required /lib/security/$ISA/ skel=/etc/skel umask=0077

I encounter the error from putty (ssh client) during login with idtapac+userid
Network error: Software caused connection abort.

When I took out the config from system-auth and restart the winbind, I successfully login into my linux Redhat EL4.

Anyone knows what wrong?

Last time I did this, I found that pam_mkhomedir only works if the process can run as root - for security the SSH service doesn't by default. I wrote a script to query AD (via LDAP) and create home directories as required, and scheduled this to run with cron.
