Samba and windows profiles

Hi guys, I have a network with windows clients configured on a samba server, however recently I have found that creating new users and trying to log on windows comes up with an error that "The server profile was not found" and logs on with a temp. profile and recently even the old users are facing this problem, but can work on the local profiles.

I am pretty new to samba and need help fixing this.

smbclient/smbpasswd

I have only had to share out a few directories for our domain users. In all cases, I have had to use smbpasswd to give the domain user the appropriate password so their share could be accessed.

For configuring my Kubuntu system so it could talk to a printer on my XP system, I made use of smbclient.

Your problem sounds different, but these two utilities might be of help to you, especially smbclient.

Thanks for your reply cmnorton.

Let me put it more clearly, earlier when i created a user in SuSE 9.3 using YAST and Smbpasswd, the user just needed to logon to windows and had the profile created and synced with the server, all was going as per plan.
Now, until recently I created a user and then tried to logon, the users profile was not even created on the computer and the message popped up and logged in with a temporary profile. Also now the old users (I have tested this with my login) who already have a profile on the server get this message on new computers/client. These old users cannot download their profile on a new computer but can use their profiles on the old computers they are using.

Now I would like to either get this server-client profiles synced or just setup samba to not create roaming profiles.

Not familiar with floating profiles

You've now hit an area beyond my knowledge, and hopefully someone else will chime in.
