samba and Mandrake 10.0

Hi Guys and Girls

Sorry to be a pain.. but i am still trying to learn linux and i think i have dropped a clanger.

I was using samba to access other machines on my network (Win XP Pro and a Cobalt Qube 2)

The short version of the story is that i have deleted the smb.conf files and everything in that folder.

Can anyone help me out as i dont seem to be about to recrate them with the GUI and i am not sure of what the required content is...

Also if anyone knows how to get the java working in opera so that i can use the remotle anywhere on the XP box i would apprecate the help

Thanks

Dan

Hi just_dan, welcome to lq. Here is a sample configuration file for your use.

http://darkstar.ist.utl.pt/slackware...mb.conf-sample

Copy the info into /etc/samba as smb.conf. You should be able to set things up again from there.
good luck.

Happens.... I've done worse things myslef... wait till you delete /etc/shadow... LOL

Now, you can configure swat and that shuld be enough... you can get everything back with a beautyful web interface. Also, you can search in the doc section of the tarball, there should be some example conifg files in there.

Have fun.
