I just installed Red Hat 6.1 on a box and would like to know how to make the windows machines I have recognize the linux drive.
I'm guessing I need to use Samba, but I am not sure how to begin.

Well first you would need samba, so head over to and get the latest and greatest. But using an older distro like RH 6.1, you might run into some dependancy problems.
My first suggestion would be first, look and see if Samba is already on your system, which I do believe it did come with 6.1. You can probably go from there in configuring it without messing with a newer version for now just to get it going.
My second suggestion, you might want to try and get a later version of Redhat or any other distro and then go with a later version of Samba.
And you can always get documentation on the site for more details on installing, setting up, etc.
