Safely rename .mhtml to .mht on my PC?

Hi to all at LQ.

Can I safely manually rename all .mhtml files to .mht on my PC?

I presume yes but just want to double check.

Thanks.

Hi LinusStallman
The .mht is merely an abbreviation for .mhtml . I assume that you are running Linux and as such make sure that your properties for both files uses you choice of browser to open and you should not notice any problems. The contents is the same and will be opened as long as your mime type is set to both extensions.

Thank you robertdaleweir.

Both files open with Firefox.
