Running VMWare tools automatically while Linux (Any Distro) starts or boots?
Help Please...
I've setup Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and Suse 10 as a virtual machines. I've also installed VMWare tools on both of them. Currently i'm starting vmware tools manually in virtual machines (syntax :- " # /usr/bin/vmware-tools & "). How can i make it start automatically while the system is booting up or making it run automatically in background like several other process, so that i can interact between my virtual machines and the host machine. Can any one help me how do i make it a service/boot option so that vmware tools runs automatically? Thanks... |
i'm really pretty sure that under redhat these do run automatically. is there not already a service script for it in init.d? if not, then as it's not somethign you really need to control like a service, just stick that command into /etc/rc.local.

Thanks for the reply.. i observed that there are scripts for vmware tools getting executed while starting up the system, when the boot process is completed i still have my keyboard and mouse struck with in my
virtual machine and have to presse "<ctrl>+<alt>" to free my keyboard and mouse.. i had this line ("/usr/bin/vmware-tools") even in /etc/rc.local as suggested. Any idea what's going on here? |
