Running phpBB on Linux

I want to run a phpBB forum on my [Slackware] Linux box. Has someone done this before, and can someone outline the steps i will need to follow in order to get this working? I am guessing that it will be something along the lines of:
1. Install Apache
2. Install mySQL
3. Install PHP
4. Install phpBB
Is that correct? Is there any other things i will need to do? Is there anything special i have to do? :newbie:

No, that should be it really. You will have to do some configuration for each and every of the steps - Apache will need more or less configuration, you will need to set up the default databases in MySQL, you'll need to edit your php.ini and then when everything works to your liking installing phpBB should be a breeze. I have been using it on my Debian box for years now and I'm very fond of it.

If you did a full install of Slackware, you should already have apache w/php and mysql installed. mysql is a little tricky to get going at first in Slackware but if you search the forums here, its been asked and answered quite frequently.
And yeah, setup your privileges on mysql and such and phpbb is easy as pie. I got it currently running on Slack 9.1 myself..

If you are a newbie, here is a step-by-step how to. it tells you how to install php, apache and mysql in the right order, etc.
