Running Linux off a CD

ok iv download slackware 10.2 from this site / its mirrors and i whant to run it off a cd with outinstaling it on my pc so i dont losse any stuff on it. do i just burn the iso image to the cd 1 and burn the other iso 2 to cd2 and change bios to run off cd and etc? is there a guide that i haven found for this yet? thank you in advance.

Slackware is not a Live CD distribution. If you want a Slackware based live cd, then download Slax.

Slackware is designed to be installed. If you want the Slack experience on a live cd, you need Slax.

Yes - the idea behind a Live CD is to provide you with a working, fully functional Linux installation that runs completely off the CD, and does not write anything to your hard drive. As soon as you want to stop using Linux, just reboot, remove the Live CD, and you'll be back to your other operating system.

As far as burning the ISO, be sure to burn is as an image file. A basic drag-and-drop copy won't work; it must be burned as an ISO image

http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO has instructions for burning an iso - in short, if you end up with a disc containing a single file ending in .iso, you did it wrong :)
