Answer that and many on here will point you to a distro that will suit your needs.
Browsing, pictures, music. I can't run windows programs with Linux correct? So I thought I'd save windows for those programs and stay off the web as much as possible with it. Linux seems to run Youtube videos without a glitch, that is nice, and also they seem clearer and better quality but that might just be me. I looked at the photos on my iPhone without using iTunes, that was nice. I can't find most of my pictures on my iPhone with windows and iTunes. Only thing is there seems to be no place to put them on Puppy, same with music... I need to do more research I guess. There is no way I can run either Windows or Apple version of ViaCad on Linux is there? Maybe it'll eliminate the glitches with that.

How about editing pictures and videos? Can Linux do any of that?

Thank you.

For Image Editing :

Yes, Definitely. Linux can do every thing what windows can do and in a better way.
If you install GIMP, it gives you all options of image editing in a professional way just like photoshop.
But if you are a beginner and you have used only PAINT in windows and you want something similar like this, you should install KolourPaint.
You will feel like you are using windows paint.

For video Editing :

If you are searching an application like movie maker or similar something, there are number of applications here in Linux. You could install kdenlive, avidemux or Cinelarra. They all are good video editing tools.
But if you are comfortable with command line, you can use ffmpeg. it gives you countless options to edit your videos in better way.
ffmpeg commands are even easily created for beginners. You will enjoy this.

" I can't run windows programs with Linux correct? "

There are some ways to run many windows programs in linux. Consider "work alike" first, then move to other solutions such as wine.

Have we offended SLW210? I don't get the .... deal.
