Running Linux from CD

Hi all!

I have heard that the it is possible to run certain distros of Linux from a CD. Is there a way to download an .iso file and burn it to CD for this purpose? Please let me know as I would like to try this.

Thanks to everyone for your time!

Do a search for Knoppix it runs from stand alone cd and leaves your existing OS alone

Knoppix is the first and most famous live distributions, but there are a lot of others. I like also Movix that is a live distribution oriented to be a very good multimedia player.
You usually find this kind of distributions with journals.
