Running Kopete

Hi All,
I decided to give Linux another go, so now I'm trying to get Kopete going, but failing miserably. I've been trying for days now, and still have no idea how all you other newbies actually run Kopete.

I've done -
./configure
make
make install

and now I have no idea how to run it. I've really tried searching for an answer to this, but so far I've found nothing on the web, and the documentation on the Kopete site may as well not be there :)

Is there some sort of "Program Files" equivalent location that it is installed to? It's something I've wondered about ever since I started with Linux, but it's never come up.

Thanks,
Michael

did you read the INSTALL and README files....i would just say all you have to do is type kopete at a terminal.../usr/bin usually stores that stuff...and some goes in /usr/local/bin ...
learn the commands such as:
whereis
find
locate
and you'll find stuff you are looking for..

Hi Dr0zz,
Thanks for the help. I did read the INSTALL and README files, and they say the files will be in /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/man, but there's absolutely nothing there. Maybe the program didn't compile properly as I did a search for kopete just then from / and it found a few kopete files outside of the source files directory, but nothing that I could run (at least nothing that I thought I could run - is there an equivalent to a .exe file in Linux?).

Finding these files made me think that it was installed properly, and the make had no problems that I could see. I'll try playing around a little more with whereis, find and locate.

Thanks,
Michael
