Running Gauss on a cluster

I'm new to Linux and I need to run a program in Gauss on a cluster.
I want to run it in the background as it is a very big job. I've tried commands like gauss -nodesktop or gauss -nodisplay or both or gauss -b but whatever I do I get the following message:"Failed to get the primary output on the screen" and Gauss application opens. Does anyone know what it means and what is the solution?

gauss &

" nodesktop" probably reference Xserver settings,
"nodisplay" is probably for headless servers (ones that you ssh into).

If your working in a tty (a terminal that can't or hasn't created a desktop environment and is connected to the cluster)they wont work.
The ampersand, however is always good.

By the way, a cluster related question on your first try?
That's pretty rare.

Welcome to Linux questions
