Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi there,
I hope that someone is out there that can help me.
A friend of mine put me onto linux mint elyssa, and installed it on to my computer.
I have used it for about 2 years now and is has been fab.
Over the last few month some issues have arrived. Such as: when I try and open the software portal, nothing happens. When I look at the items that I am watching on ebay, the pictures are not showing. the sound of my skype no longer works. when I open firefox it gives me a message that it fails to connect, but when I call on google it does work. there are quite a few other glitches, but it is late in the day and I can not recall them right now.
may be I have to update but I do not know what to update, because when I try, it gives me a warning and tells me that they can not be authenticated and if I am sure about going ahead with the updates, and that it might be harmful to my computer and then there are numbers 2 and 3.....so I have been closing the window because I am to worried to damage the system.
where do I start?
any ideas anyone?
chhers K
Hi, you're posting too many problems and not enough info about them for us to help you well. Break down your problems and be more detailed about them. Specific error messages are needed (copy and paste). Ideally, read the link in my sig, then post.
