You need Wine or WineX. Linux cannot run Windows programs natively.

And Welcome to LQ

Codeweavers crossover runs a large number of win apps (office, photoshop, IE, etc) for $40, but you need to reinstall them in linux.

Winex (cedega) runs a large number of win games for $15-$30, but again you need to reinstall them in linux.

original wine is better for some older games, but harder to use.

crossover and winex coexist on the same pc just fine BTW. Winex and point 2 play has a great idea of putting each game in it's own virtual C drive to stop conflicts and allow individual system set up which is a cool idea.

If you go to their web sites you get lists of compatible apps.
