Well, thanks for all your input guys.

I didn't figure a newb like myself should be trying to make an unstable version of Linux work, so I downloaded and installed v9.1 of Mandrake. It works great now, sound works all of the time, and logging off and back on works exactly as it should.

I appreciate the effort from you guys though, and if you have any insight to my lone problem now located at, it'd be much appreciated.
