RPM update
I am trying to install the latest version of wine.
Alas, my Redhat 6.2 doesn't have the required version of RPM. I tried to download a more recent RPM at http://www.rpm.org but I get errors when I try to install it. What can I do besides turning out the cash to upgrade to RedHat 7 ? |
go to www.redhat.com/support and get a new version of RPM, or get wine in a tar.gz file and just install it from source.

This is a common problem, try searching this site for rpm.
I had the same problem but didn't solve before I upgraded to Red Hat 7.1 |
I assume that you are taking about the following error:
*** only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM *** See the page at http://www.redhat.com/support/errata...00-051-01.html for information about getting rpm-3.0.5 which solves this dilema. Joe |
