The "GLIBC_2.3.2 not found" error refers to internal version stuff inside the GLIBC library. Glibc 2.3.2 came out quite a while ago. Is your distro old? I think what's happening here is:

1. the Firefox you have was compiled for a newer disto.
2. The glibc RPMs you have require other things you haven't upgraded.

Anyway, you don't say where you got your RPMs. Installing RPMs not meant for your distro (even ones for a different version of the same distro!) can cause problems. I'd recommend first finding the latest glibc RPM for the version of your distro you are using. Then see if your distro has Firefox RPMs.

This is what is commonly refered to as "rpm hell" now you know why. Try to use rpm's that are for your distribution and release of distro ie don't try to install redhat 9 package on fedora etc. Install apt-rpm and find a repository it will figure out the dependancies for you. Or you could switch to a Debian based distro;) that's what I did several years back.

RH 8.0 w/ Mozilla Firefox 1.0 GLIBC ERRORS

:Pengy:

I also encountered that same error when attempting to install mozilla firefox on my Red Hat 8.0 Box.....

so i have tried to find the glibc_2.3.2 that it requires....but to no avail...

So if anyone knows where i can get at least GLIBC 2.3.2 or newer for my RH8 box...let me know...thanks!

What distro. It may be a bit on the old side. I couldn't install firefox (even the loki style installer) on mandrake 9.0... I had to upgrade the OS on that PC first...

Actually, I just figured it out.....for Red Hat 8.0, you need to download the glibc updates from the red hat site....including the glibc_2.3.2 and the
glibc_common that goes with the version.....:study:
