RPM for jpilot
Ok, a new chapter in the saga of PDA synchronization at my place.
I can't get evolution to sync with my wife's Visor. It syncs to the PC via a USB port, and the evolution sync software doesn't recognize the USB port. I downloaded the RPM file of Jpilot. I downloaded the .src rpm first, as the website described the .i386 file as for RedHat and I use SuSe. After running RPM on the src file and getting nothing, I went back and downloaded the .i386 rpm file. I then got into root and gave the rpm command with -qpl to list the files inside the rpm. After seeing all the files, I ran it with -i to install the rpm file. I had created a file called /jpilot in root where I was working. (did the pwd command to be sure). After running the rpm -i command, I gave an "ls" command to get a listing of the directory's contents. The only file that was listed was the original i386.rpm file. What do I do now to get this program to install and show up somewhere? How do I get the Palm sync program to see USB ports? |
In follow-up, I tried to install this rpm file using YaST2. I gave the directory where the i386.rpm file was located during the change source command in YaST2. I also turned off the CD route.
When I clicked install software, the CD source that came with SuSe is still the only one that shows up. I can't get YaST2 to see the other location. What did I do that was incorrect. |
