Question rpm / binaries ?

If i compiled apache with php, should I use Rpm or binaries for mysql ?
What is the real difference between them, what is generally better to use ?

thanks

Whatever your comfortable with really. Either one will work. I feel you have more control over if you use source over RPM though.

Either one, I always use source because it really isn't hard.
It usually consists of just untaring a tarball, reading an INSTALL or README file and running a few commands.

Both accomplish exactly the same thing. Red Hat tries to make it easier with RPM, although many will disagree that they have done that.

Make your own mind up--install one package from the binary source and another with RPM. Actually, do several packages with each--you'll then prefer one over the other.
