RPM asking for libXinerama.so.1, but I got libXinerama.a

I'm tring to install qt from an rpm and it says it needs libXinerama.so.1, I searched and found a libXinerama.a in /usr/X11R6/lib. What are .a files? Is there any way to convert this into the so.1 file? Whats the deal here?

Cheers,

320mb,
What's the point of referring a question to google that's being asked here when your link doesn't refer to the answer to this question. Please don't waste people's time.
