root password?? what is it??
hi all, i have damn small linux, works fine but i dont know the root password, i haven't evan set one... can some1 help ASAP.
any input will help |
well if its asking for one, and if you left it empty and pressed enter and it still says incorrect, then you must have obviously set one...the computer don't lie :D
so since you didn't mention if you did or not, i will recommend just to press enter and leave it empty when it asks for one, and if that is the case, then i in turn suggest you set a password on the root account. |
I am not sure whether it is same with redhat, but in redhat just type ctrl+x and then type single user.
when you in the prompt, just type passwd and then set your password there. Reboot your linuz then try to login as root and give it the password that you just setup just now. I am not sure whether it is same with redhat but it is worth to try. |
Try damnsmalllinux worked for me.

Follow these steps to reset your root password: 1) Reboot your computer. 2) When the grub bootloader appears on the screen select the entry for your linux system - it may be the only one. 3) Press the "e" key to edit the entry. 4) Select the line beggining with "kernel". 5) Press the "e" key again 6) Type " single" no quotes (space then single) 7) Press enter 8) Press "b" to boot 9) When the prompt appears type "passwd" press enter 10) Enter a new password when prompted 11) Reboot by typing "shutdown -r now" |
